The Foundation was founded in 1996 with the sole purpose of supporting the mission
and endeavors of Scotland School for Veterans’ Children. To this end, the Foundation is
the “philanthropic arm” of Scotland School. The Foundation is a stand-alone, self-supporting
operation without any funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon the Foundation's
inception, funds were raised to equip the Colin L. Powell Culinary Arts Center
with state-of-the-art equipment.
The Foundation for Scotland School for Veterans’ Children is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit support organization.
There are many costs associated with operating Scotland School that do not directly fall within the
Commonwealth's appropriation for classroom instruction, food, clothing, and housing.
The Foundation works to provide funds for student field trips, student-life
and campus activities, community service and leadership
development that will ultimately enhance the student experience
and overall quality of life at the school. The Foundation also
works to support improvements to the campus’ physical
plant and equipment upgrades that are not covered
by State funds.
The Foundation raises funds through a myriad of activities
to include: Our Annual Fund and Campaign, Grants, Direct Mail,
Planned Giving and Special Events (such as our annual
Tree of Lights Campaign and our John McAllister Memorial Golf Tournament).
