They are our warriors, our defenders and our heroes.
They are sons and daughters, moms and dads, and brothers and sisters.
They serve for love of country, love of faith and love of each other.
They ask not what their country can do for them,
but only what they can do for their country.
They have served - they have sacrificed – and many have fallen.
They are called Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines.
They are our beloved veterans.

The debt America owes her veterans should not only be paid through static
monuments on the Mall in Washington or on our nation’s battlefields, but should
also be paid in “today’s currency” – through a living memorial, like Scotland School
for Veterans’ Children.

By caring for and educating veterans’ children, Scotland School, in its service, is
a testament to the dedication, service and sacrifice of our veterans.

Scotland School for Veterans’ Children continues to hold a special place in
American history – as the only remaining school which serves, solely, children
from America’s veteran families. Scotland School was founded on the underlying
premise that “we” the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania “owe” our
veterans’ so much more than we have given.

That, upon their (veterans) need, Pennsylvania will ensure that there remains an
educational opportunity for veterans’ children – an opportunity that will not only
allow them to survive in today’s world, but will help them thrive as America’s
newest generation of adult citizens.

There would be no Scotland School without the current, ongoing support of America’s veterans and those citizens who support their families. We, at Scotland School, are forever grateful for these heroes.

For more than a century,
tens of thousands of veterans
and active-duty personnel
have supported our mission of
caring for the children of
Pennsylvania’s veteran
families – for this we are blessed.
